a day in the life: the archery festival

a little juniper for good luck
every village in the area has an archery festival running for about a weeks time in early spring.  we have been fortunate enough to watch bits and pieces over the past week.  many of our friends participated, and our good friend, ongel, won the overall contest.

i never quite understood the rules, but it seems that there is a point system and the expectation of consuming lots of roxi (an alcoholic beverage that taste something like paint thinner, or so i have heard).  surprisingly, no one was injured enough to need treatment at the manang HRA aid post.

here are some shots from the week...

music makes most everything better

...as do furry hats
so many beautiful arrows...
an the winner is, ongel...
the playing field
even kids can do it...
some people would rather watch the games
eamon took a turn with yem's bow and arrow
an action shot
another action shot
