| magnus, rachel, maria, claire, and kristy - holi hoilday in kathmandu, nepal - march 2012 |
today is the holiday holi in nepal. i am still not entirely sure of it’s story (i believe it has a sort of religious inception), but it is celebrated with a day of color. if john and i were to venture outside the hotel this morning, we would be covered in dry paint and attacked with water balloons. as i write, i can hear the children laughing in the streets and the music playing over the intercom. it is a joyous day in kathmandu.
john and i are planning to enjoy
the celebration later today on our way to the monkey temple just outside
tamel. i'll try and snap a few photos if it's safe to take out the camera. :)
in other news, on today's morning run we (john, kristy, and i) witnessed a giant pig being slaughtered in an alley. the scream of the animal alone may be enough to haunt me for life. the image was not much better. and the whole ordeal took way too long, if you ask me.

note: john and i leave tomorrow for a 6-7 day trek to the manang, nepal HRA clinic.
