| hatch shell - july fourth 2011 |
first, we went to a flag ceremony downtown at government center. following the ceremony, th audience joined those presenting in a parade to the gravestones of many prominent US figures who are buried here in boston. we then headed to the old state house for the reading of the declaration of independence, which was closely followed by both spoken word and song at feneuil hall.
after trekking around for the morning, john and i walked over to the hatch shell to claim a spot for that evenings performances. then, we waited. (in fact, we waited about 8 hours in the very hot sun). it was a wonderful show and the fireworks were spectacular.
note: most everyone in attendance is from out-of-town.

My favorite 4th of July EVER was in Boston! We saw a Mariner's vs Red Sox game in the afternoon, and then waited for the Pop's and Fireworks too. So amazing. Glad you got to experience it :)
