don't worry, i am a member of PITA...

wade the kitten

so, this happened a while ago, but the memory came to mind today and i thought i would share.

this past summer...

i drove up to my house on harrison avenue only to behold the following: a white car in the middle of the street, with the emergency lights flashing, and the drivers side door wide open.  then, i noticed a black cat curled up on the side of the road with a woman kneeling next to it.  my first thought was, "this lady hit my cat!"  so, in a bit of a frantic state (says kylee), i jumped out of the car and ran over to the scene.  i soon realized that the cat was not wade, but the neighbors cat, valentine.  i asked the woman if she had hit the cat with her car, to which she replied, "no."  she then went on to tell me that she was a member of PITA and that it was her responsibility to remove any potentially stray cats from the streets.  lucky for valentine, she wears a tag and her owner was home to answer the call from the crazy the PITA lady.  she (the crazy PITA lady) did not take the cat, but she made it very clear that she was respecting the owners wishes and that she did not agree with cats out on the streets.

i was pretty upset, because wade doesn't wear a collar and the thought of someone just driving off with him sort of bugs me.  (note: wade doesn't wear a collar because john is afraid he'll hang himself from it and i'm worried the true outdoor cats will make fun of him).  anyway, john then reminded me that we can't even catch wade outside, and therefore it was unlikely anyone else would be so lucky.

i have felt at peace about the crazy PITA lady ever since.  well, at least in regards to my own kitty.
