early on in the rotation, john said, "sarah, i think you are going to miss this rotation." my response was the following, "well, i won't miss the driving."
john was right; i totally miss working at the chillicothe VA. i miss the sweet patients that would remember your name and yell, "is that sarah still here" as they were whisked away for their podiatry appointment. i miss the structure of a practice that has a protocol for everything...mid-peripheral heme = carotid doppler with DFE in 3 months, or moderate dry AMD = AREDS vitamins, or symptomatic PVD with no breaks = return for DFE in 1 month, and then in two more (assuming all is well). but most of all i miss the people i was so privileged to work with. i was inspired to be a better doctor, but more importantly to become a better person. i had an attending at OSU once tell me that you cannot be a good doctor until you care about your patients. i did not believe her then, because finishing an eye exam in 2 hours was then still something i was working towards...but i believe her now.
oh, and i don't get to miss the driving because i am driving all over creation for my current rotation. :). that said, this rotation has a car and a person who fills up my tank while i'm at work. not too shabby.

Paul and Anita here. We just read all your posts and wanted to tell you guys that we miss you. You both look great. How is residency treating John? Hows Sarah's last year going? We are doing well down here and talking about maybe going to Dayton for Christmas. My sisters family lives there. Would you guys be around? Take care and we love you guys.

i might be a random blogger myself, and a random visitor to your site, BUT i do love getting the updates when i do! you guys look GREAT! tell john i said hello and way to go on the iron man goal. geez i only ran a HALF marathon in april and that was TOTALLY enough for me!!! anyway, sounds like life is good for you both and that makes me happy! :) love from utah!
